Jackson Street, North Shields
Helping our busy client to transform their property in North Shields, giving them a home to be happy in.
This townhouse in North Shields was in need of some TLC after years of neglect and structural issues. Our client here had done her very best to start the renovation works herself whilst working full time with 2 young boys and we couldn’t have been happier to help and finish what she started.
A simple reconfiguration including the removal of a structural wall between the kitchen and dining area, a new cupboard under the stairs and door into the kitchen/diner and the installation of a large French door with top light has brought in lots of light and made the ground floor to flow and feel spacious.
Our team have done a beautiful job of opening out the ‘wonky’ fireplace in the kitchen, cleaning back the bricks, repointing and repairing where needed, with a new stone lintel; it has brought it back to life and created a stunning feature. We also opened up the fireplace in the living room, installing a new tiled hearth, flu, stove and lumber mantel and finishing the room off with bespoke designed and built cupboards and shelving either side.
We love getting to work with different clients with different ideas and on this project, we really got to be creative and our client’s design choices have really come to fruition. We installed new joinery to the staircase with a new banister and wall panelling up all 3 floors and now finished and painted it looks like it’s always been there.
Some bold colours throughout, laminate flooring and Wren kitchen with tiled splashback and feature lights all come together to mix traditional, contemporary and industrial styles that really work in this transformed home.
Mountfair Homes also carried out technical structural work to the ground floor, fixing a long-standing subsidence issue by lifting the entire ground floor joists and flooring. Re-plastering and decoration to the rest of the property finished the house off and has left our amazing client in a home she is finally comfortable and relaxed in.
