The Fairway, Gosforth
Bringing our client’s bungalow – which has an amazing view – up to date with a new extension and renovation works.
Extension & Renovation Project
Our clients bought their bungalow on the edge of Gosforth golf course for the beautiful view of the course. An uninterrupted view out onto the fairway and trees around it instantly transport you out of the city and into the countryside. However, the bungalow had not been touched in decades and was in dire need of updating. It had no direct access from the house into the garden and the stunning surroundings were being wasted.
Designed by architects Acre Design, the new extension and reconfiguration really maximise the potential of this plot and the brave design choices of our wonderful clients elevate to it another level.
The Mountfair Homes team were able to show their range of abilities with a full turn key approach to this build including everything from ground works, right through to flooring and decoration. A full re-wire; all-new plumbing, heating and drainage system; garage re-roof; and full re-plaster brought all trades together, working towards the same end goal. Features such as the floor to ceiling sliding doors and flat roof lanterns bring as much light into the space as possible and glazed oak internal doors and sun tunnels let the light flow through the darker areas of the house.
New carpets and hard flooring supplied and fitted by our partners at Karpet Mills; bathroom tiles supplied by NTA at Kingston Park and fitted mirror from MGP on Team Valley; lovely new composite doors – and that outstanding sliding door – supplied and fitted by NE&C Doors and Windows. These are just some of the close relationships we have with our suppliers who we pull together to create the space our clients dream of.
And the design carries on outside with the installation of the contemporary split face cladding to the rear, and a composite deck to match. This gives the clients a wonderful space to sit out and enjoy the glorious Northeast summer weather while drinking in the views of the golf course.
A great team effort by all associated with Mountfair Homes, this bungalow has been given its much needed new lease of life and our clients couldn’t be happier with the results – see what they had to say below.
“There are two important things to consider when undertaking a building project. One: the quality of the finished work, and two: the relationship with the contractor who creates it. Regarding our experience of our more-or-less total home refurbishment, our expectations regarding these two things have been exceeded in every way. Our refurbished home is both beautiful and functional. Mountfair Homes have turned a neglected 1950s property into a home fit for the demands of 21st century living, with a high-end vibe and – importantly – a home that reflects our needs and lifestyle.
This has been achieved largely due to the excellent relationship between us and the Mountfair team, who designed an efficient schedule and kept us informed at every stage. It all happened as they said it would, there was never a day when the site was idle. The specialist tradesmen were all personable, punctual, courteous and professional, taking their lead no doubt from the tremendous team of Shea, Shaun and Marc who were always on hand at what seemed like a moment’s notice.
There are inevitably obstacles in a complex multi trade and multi material project. In our case our specified cladding wasn’t in the country, let alone on site. The team were on hand immediately to inform and reassure, and then to rearrange the schedule such that the impact of the issue was minimized. There was no slacking of pace and other parts of the project continued to take shape. The cladding when it arrived was on the wall within two days and looks stunning.
We have no hesitation in recommending Mountfair Homes – the best company we’ve ever had. A huge thank you from us to everyone involved. We love our new home.”
